Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 26, 2026

Renting Hive is owned and operated by Quanhex LLC ("Quanhex," "we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and share information when you use the Renting Hive platform.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly to us when you create an account, including your name, email address, phone number, and zip code. We also collect information about your use of the platform, such as listings you create, rentals you initiate, and searches you perform.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Renting Hive platform.
  • Process rental transactions and payments through Stripe.
  • Share your contact information with the other party upon rental confirmation.
  • Send transactional emails related to your rentals and account.
  • Detect and prevent fraud and abuse.

3. Contact Information Sharing

When a rental is confirmed, we share your name, email address, and phone number with the other party to the rental for the sole purpose of coordinating the in-person item exchange. By completing a rental transaction, you consent to this disclosure.

4. Payment Information

Payment processing is handled by Stripe. We do not store your full credit card number on our servers. Please review Stripe's Privacy Policy for information about how they handle your payment data.

5. Location Information

We collect your zip code to show you nearby listings and to display your listings to nearby renters. If you grant browser location permission, we use your coordinates to calculate distances. We do not share your precise location with other users — only your city and state are shown publicly.

6. Cookies and Similar Technologies

We use cookies and similar browser storage technologies (such as local storage) to operate the platform. We do not use advertising cookies, cross-site tracking, or third-party analytics or marketing pixels. The technologies we use fall into two categories:

  • Strictly necessary — required for the platform to function. These keep you signed in, secure forms against cross-site request forgery, maintain your session, and support fraud prevention and secure payment processing through Stripe. Stripe sets its own cookies (such as __stripe_mid and __stripe_sid) to detect and prevent fraud during checkout. The platform cannot operate without these, so they are not subject to consent.
  • Functional / preferences — remember choices you make so we don't repeat prompts. For example, we record when you have dismissed or seen certain in-app notices (such as the social login banner) so they are not shown to you again. These do not track you across other websites and are not used for advertising.

You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. If you block strictly necessary cookies, parts of the platform — including signing in and completing a rental — may not work. For details on Stripe's cookies, see Stripe's Privacy Policy.

7. Data Retention and Opt-Out

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. Because Renting Hive only sends transactional emails necessary for the service, the only way to opt-out of all communications is to delete your account. You can do this in your Account Settings.

8. Security

We use industry-standard security measures to protect your information. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the platform after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.

10. Contact

If you have questions about this Privacy Policy, please contact us at [email protected].

11. Cookies & Tracking Technologies

We use the following technologies to collect information about your use of our platform:

Google Analytics 4 (GA4)

Essential Cookies

Required for security, authentication, and basic platform functionality. These cannot be disabled. Examples include session tokens, CSRF tokens, user preferences, fraud prevention, and secure payment processing tokens.

Marketing Cookies (Future)

Meta Pixel and Reddit Pixel are not currently active on our platform. When we deploy these technologies in the future, they will measure ad campaign performance and can be disabled in Consent Preferences.

12. Your Consent & Privacy Rights

You have the right to manage your privacy preferences and exercise the following rights:

  • Withdraw your consent at any time by adjusting your preferences in Consent Preferences
  • Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Request deletion of your personal data (subject to legal obligations)
  • File a complaint with your local data protection authority

For questions or to exercise any of these rights, please contact us at [email protected].
